#Project366 – week 34

Looking back at these snapshots from the first week of my summer holiday in Spain really makes me want to jet off to somewhere sunny! Don’t worry, I still managed to fit a few runs and plenty of laps across the outdoor pool to balance out my diet of ice-cream and alcohol!

#232 - honeycomb cannelloni at Jamie's Italian

Day #232 – Refuelling with a “honeycomb” of different forms of vegetable cannelloni (the pumpkin version was particularly delicious) at Jamie’s Italian inside Gatwick Airport

#233 - campsite chilli con carne

Day #233 - First recipe from my campsite collection received the thumbs up from the family – spicy chilli con carne cooked on the BBQ

#234 - banana and coconut gelato

Day #234 – Our campsite was next to the little village of Palafrugell, where local residents would meet up in the square most evenings to swing their Latin hips to live-music. Surrounding the square were a collection of excellent gelateries serving incredible flavours…these banana and coconut scoops were possibly the best I’ve ever tasted!

#235 - Summer sangria

Day #235 – When I was a teenager I swore I wouldn’t drink alcohol…until I discovered Sangria! Now this burgundy punch is my holiday staple…this was my first glass of many…

#236 - traditional Spanish tortilla and tomato bread

Day #236 – Traditional lunch of Spanish potato and onion tortilla omelette with tomato bread (and my awesome aqua sunnies!)

#237 - poolside Mojito

Day #237 – Chillaxing with a late-night mojito by the pool

#238 - Gazpacho in Barcelona

Day #238 – Given that a fair number of our evening meals were cooked on the campsite, I was keen to experience as many Spanish delicacies as possible during our days exploring the local sights. This bowl of gazpacho soup in Barcelona was very refreshing, but I wished I’d left more room to test more of the tapas and treats available at the sprawling La Boqueria market
