#Project366 – Week 50

Every day this week I’ve expected to find a bright white landscape greeting me when I leave the house for my early morning gym sessions, but sadly we’ve yet to see a snowflake fall in London this winter. There has been some serious frost and face-aching cold winds lately though, so it can’t be long before my fantasy of a lazy “snow day” is fulfilled! Judging by these photos from the last week on #Project366, it’s certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

#344 - Sipsmith sloe gin from Taste of Christmas

Day #344 – I drink alcohol very infrequently these days, but I decided there was no better way to get into the “Taste of Christmas” spirit than by treating myself to a bottle of this rich and fruity Sipsmith sloe gin

#345 - apricot and chocolate scones

Day #345 - Apricot and dark chocolate scones cooling ready for another baking party at the office (recipe adapted from Hampshire foodblogger Amy Lane’s Pocket Baking Bible)

#346 - snowy mince pies

Day #346 – Snowy mince pies for sale at Parliament’s canteen

#347 - Tas's broad beans and yoghurt

Day #347 – “Powerfood” broad beans with yoghurt as part of Tas’s meze selection (see Day #272 for my favourite complimentary appetisers from this Anatolian restaurant)

#348 - wholewheat pasta and pesto

Day #348 – My trip to Tas inadvertently  turned into a bit of a late-night binge, with a mixed grill and icecream sundae following the numerous meze dishes! In order to balance things out I felt a healthy vegetarian dinner was required the next day, so I whipped up this pesto-coated wholewheat pasta with extra spinach, parmesan and sweetcorn

#349 - meeting Tom Kerridge

Day #349 – On Thursday I mentioned Tom Kerridge’s incredible duck fat chips whilst reviewing Ben Spalding’s residency at John Salt. Who ever would have thought that just 24 hours later I would have the chance to meet this culinary idol of mine and experience his exception food again at an exclusive restaurant overlooking the Southbank…? Not me, that’s for sure! I couldn’t believe my luck at managing to snap up a couple of last-minute tickets to Tom’s stint at The Cube by Electrolux…needless to say I photographed every one of the seven courses, so I’ll be sharing this dream come true with you soon!

#350 - Violet cakes' cinnamon bun

Day #350 – After the success of the streetfood extravaganza for Fifteen’s 10th anniversary (see Day #182), Jamie Oliver and KERB joined forces again for a festive food market. Having skipped breakfast I eagerly tucked into a spicy sambar stew by Dosa Deli and creamy rice pudding by Anna Mae’s, before returning home to the warm with this beautifully flaky pastry cinnamon bun by Violet cakes.

My challenge to capture a food-related photograph every day for a year might almost be over, but it’s still worth following me on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with all my latest gastronomic gossip and festive #foodporn! If you’ve stumbled upon this blog for the first time and want to reflect on the 343 days that came before these, then why not check out my #Project366 Pinterest board for the full flashback from 2012?
